Year 3 Flag Fen Archaeology Park
Year 3 visited Flag Fen Archaeology Park this week. In the morning, the children tried their hand at being field archaeologists. They helped Flag Fen staff sort artefacts into “Stone Age”, “Bronze Age” and “Iron Age” baskets. The children were fascinated by the fact that these artefacts were thousands of years old! Afterwards, the children made clay pots using the same techniques that the Celts would have used. After lunch, they were taken on a tour around the site. They visited “Bronze Age Supermarket” and learned about the discovery of artefacts at Must Farm. The children also had the opportunity to see a section of the excavated Bronze Age causeway, remains of which are left on open display, kept wet using a spray system. At the end of the day, the children were treated to a story told in the roundhouse by our wonderful guide, Kate. What a lovely educational experience!
